Respiratory viruses remain one of the greatest challenges to global public health — from seasonal outbreaks to pandemic threats. The need for skilled, collaborative professionals who can bridge disciplines and innovate solutions has never been greater.
Together with The University of Hong Kong (HKU), we invite you to participate in the 7th School of Respiratory Viruses, a 5-day residential school that spans a multidisciplinary program designed for postgraduate students, early career scientists, clinicians, public health professionals, and policy makers who are committed to advancing the understanding and control of respiratory pathogens. ISRV schools are unique events held in different regions to build and strengthen local and regional capacities. Past schools have been held in Italy, Lebanon, India and Qatar, training over 300 young scientists. The 7th School will be the first to be held in East Asia.
We are excited to host the School in Hong Kong, a city of stunning harbour and scenic mountains. More importantly, Hong Kong is also a city rich in the history of fighting infectious diseases- from the 1894 Hong Kong plague to the 2003 SARS outbreak- demonstrating a legacy of resilience that we can learn and be inspired from. As such, the 7th School will include a special focus on emerging influenza and coronaviruses, documenting its’ history to current ongoing challenges around the world.
