AVS will be holding a one day symposium on Tuesday December 9th 2025, in conjunction with our annual general meeting (AGM).
An exciting broad virology related program has been planned, that will include invited international and national presenters.

Australasian Virology Society (AVS) would like to invite its members and virologists based in the Pacific Islands to attend the inaugural symposium, Spotlight on Virology in the Pacific. This symposium is being jointly held with institutes spanning the Pacific and speakers include some of the region’s leading virologists based at Fiji National University, Institut Pasteur New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research, Institut Louis-Malardé, Doherty Institute, and Oceania University of Medicine.

The NIAID-funded Bacterial and Viral Bioinformatics Resource Center (BV-BRC) is a free, web-based platform that unifies bacterial and viral genomic data with powerful analysis tools and preconfigured workflows—designed to help researchers accelerate infectious-disease discovery and response.

Join members of the BV-BRC as they host a live, hands-on workshop for AVS members — to walk researchers through everything BV-BRC offers, from data exploration to phylogenetic and genomic analyses.
